“I got out of the Army in April of 2013 and didn’t have any major issues transitioning. It was only years later when I was in the middle of a divorce that I had to ask myself the uncomfortable question of, ‘Who is Chad Price?’
I used to be a married guy who was in the Army. Then, I was just a retired dad and no longer part of the Army. Then, all of a sudden, no more marriage, and I had to ask myself, ‘What now?’
I ended up getting into contact with Tosh after listening to some of his Crooked Butterfly podcast episodes. I sent him an email with some of my thoughts about an episode that resonated with me and never thought I’d get a response. The next morning, I checked my inbox and saw he actually wrote me back. One thing led to another, and before I knew it, I was signing up to volunteer to help at the fundraiser in 2021.
I’m an introvert, I really don’t like large groups of people, especially lots of people I don’t even know. But for some reason, I said yes anyway. I knew that no matter what, this group of people would be united by a common thread of similar values and purpose, and that I would feel accepted in a way I don’t normally feel in typical social gatherings. It’s always inspiring to be around this group of people, everyone’s so different, and even though we might be strangers at first, it’s so easy to connect and I always leave these events with a full heart.
I’ve still got a ways to go on my own journey, and I’m not quite certain what my next steps are. But after being in the mountains of Colorado with all of these amazing people, I am refreshed and excited to clarify my purpose. I want to continue to serve others, whether it’s as a dad, grandfather, friend, or co-worker.”
